It would be very hard for me to tell my complete story now, but I have been racing since 1999.When I first started racing there were more racers using modified aero engines and I was one of those, first using a MVVS .40 which at the time worked very well, it was a good sport class engine but when you race in the National Championships it helps if you have good reliable set up and not just speed !, but when you have done a few races you find that speed is also a very useful tool to have. The changes I have made since my first couple of years have not been major but i have moved to full race engines including Rossi"s and CMB"s.

In 2001 my son Luke joined OMRA and he raced a couple of times in the "B" class which is engines up to 11cc . His first boat was a 38" Cat powered by a .61 ASP. The actual concept of racing a Cat is great, how real they look on the water and the speed in which they turn is very pleasing. When you drive one in race conditions things never seem to be the same as when you actually test and set one up on your own lake.! Luke soon found that when racing the Cat ,which had a good turn of speed , it was very hard not to submarine the boat over every other wave, which even on flat water soon roughed up with 10 other boats hammering around. He used the Cat for a couple of races but it was hard work, until at a race in Bristol at the docks he lost control and hit the wall Very Hard and that was the end of racing Cats, but you have to move on so he and went to a 48" Challenger in the "A" class, engines up to 7.5cc.

I must first apologise for being a totally behind on my web site. I will give you a quick Final run down of how the season finished.

We finish the season with more sucess, taking Top 3 finishes in most race's, including several Wins.

At the end of the, Year Luke had Won the 7.5cc 'A' Class, Championship !!!

The season ended on a High for me taking Wins in the 11cc 'B' Class and the 15cc 'C' Class Championships for 2009..........
