" Bounty Hunter Too " at Bristol.
Many thanks for visiting my web site, I have always been interested in boats since I was a child going to Weymouth, on the south coast most weekends with my family and friends where I learnt to water ski. I bought my first boat when I was about 19, it was a 13 foot Shakespere with a 50hp Mercury but I soon out grew the engine and I had an 80hp Mercury fitted! which I can tell you was a bit over powered. The next move was to a 18 foot Ring Powercraft with a 150hp V6 Mercury which I bought with a couple of mates.Over the next few years we went Waterski Racing around the South West coast, where we became Regional Champions. For many years we would sit off the end of Portland Bill waiting for the class 1 and 2 Offshore Powerboats to come through on there way to Torquay, they were taking part in the Cowes -Torquay-Cowes power Boat race, to see the boats going at over 70mph just a few yards away was something you could never forget, the sound of the engines was just incredable!!! When I saw my first model Powerboat Race it was in Weymouth. The boats were racing in the sea and the large 50" size boats where very quick and they went over the sea in a very realistic way, they were just like the real thing! So that was that,as they say. I had to have one and go racing. I built my first boat in 1998 and it was a 31" Areomarine Challenger powered by a Thunder Tiger .21, I thought I had done a really good job on this untill I went to race it at a local race meet at Bristol. When we got there it was in the docks and the conditons were just like the open sea.I never thought that waterproof electrical boxes let the water in, but they do and when it does, your servos etc dont work very well at all, when they are submerged in water. That ended a very dissapointing first days racing, but I can assure you I was NOT going to let it beat me.Please enter for more ups and downs in my Model Racing in OMRA, ( Offshore Model Racing Association ).
